The Reliable Unique Strength of Truth in your life!
Psalm 1:1-2 (AMP)
1 Blessed (happy, fortunate, prosperous, and enviable) is the man who walks and lives not in the counsel of the ungodly [following their advice, their plans and purposes], nor stands [submissive and inactive] in the path where sinners walk, nor sits down [to relax and rest] where the scornful [and the mockers] gather.
Remember the sayings “You can tell a lot about someone by who they have around them” or “Friends will carry you but they won’t bring you back”?
Bishop Evans has taught us about critical thinking over the past year. When you apply this in our lives – great, purposeful relationships are achieved. As an example, let’s look at marriage and friendship. In a marriage, who you choose as a spouse sets you on a course that impacts yourself and others, therefore there should be a critical thought process leading up to marriage. Do they possess that unique strength that makes you comfortable seeking direction, encouragement, and honesty in them? Do they set goals for the relationship ensuring success in life – goals that include growing a family and growing together as partners? Can you TRUST them?
In your friendships, are you encouraging your friend to continue school, or start their own business? Are they doing the same for you? Are you both still doing the same things? Have you grown at all? Notice I started with you – this is because you have a vital part to play in the relationship. God tells us to love and have mercy unto others only after first demonstrating how to love us. God’s example of relationship with us is the one we should follow.
Our relationships should be balanced and built on trust. This does not mean relationships won’t stumble or break apart, but choosing good relationships means we should be moving forward more than we move backwards. Always remember that our relationship with GOD sets the course for all others!
