Destiny of Relationships

II Chronicles 25:5

5 Moreover Amaziah gathered Judah together, and made them captains over thousands, and captains over hundreds, according to the houses of their fathers, throughout all Judah and Benjamin: and he numbered them from twenty years old and above, and found them three hundred thousand choice men, able to go forth to war, that could handle spear and shield.

We are involved in many types of relationships. We have relationships with our children, spouses, significant others, parents, friends, etc., all of which requires us to at times be patient, kind, understanding, compassionate, and empathetic. In order to be successful, we must learn who we are and increase our knowledge of God, always knowing that the best relationship to have is with God.

God shows us the order to follow to have success within our relationships. It starts with God, then you, your assignment and finally other people. Sometimes we go out of order and base our identity on other people. Our identity should begin in God, and he then adds to us.

God adds to us by sending us the right people to help in our assignment. Relationships should always add to your strengths and not weaknesses. If we find someone who does not add to our strengths we must take appropriate steps to love them from afar.

Since we are spiritual beings it is important to maintain our spiritual connection and not allow human relationships to change it. We can do this by taking an audit of our relationships to determine who adds or who takes away. If we continue to follow God’s word, we can have better relationships, because ultimately they do determine our destiny.
